Celebrating Koskela’s mums!

The wonderful mums in our team share their what’s on their Mother’s Day wish list.

For a small business we are lucky to have a remarkable amount of mums working for us. Out of a total of 26 staff, eight are mothers – that’s 30 percent! Koskela mums are amazing powerhouses; all of them are incredibly devoted to their kids, while excelling at work either part-time or full-time.

We think all mums deserve to be spoilt on Mother’s Day, and Koskela mums especially so! Some of them have shared what’s on their wish list, and there are plenty of great ideas to treat your own mum.

I read something once along the lines of: "We only have 18 summers together with our children", it made me realise time is fleeting, and since hitting pause isn't an option I try my very best to enjoy and be present in each moment I have with them, time is something you never get back.

A Kapu Minaral lampshade by Paula Savage from Moa Arts is very high up on my wishlist, I'd also love a Seljak recycled blanket and the Quadrant Soft Sofa single in heirloom cedar would be perfect in my bedroom.

I feel it's probably too early to provide any wisdom, however something I learned very early on is there is so much conflicting advice out there, it's crucial for you to trust your own instincts.

Some more Aotea Kawa Kawa balm – an amazing all round healing balm for mums and bubs.

Pick your battles, you win some you lose some. Find joy in the small victories and enjoy every milestone as the years are short and fly by in the blink of an eye.

What would you like this Mother’s Day?

I love a good homemade card and breakfast in bed but if I had to pick something it would have to be a pair of Pip Stent Pearl Hoops or the Slowdown Studio Kimbie throw.

Any motherly wisdom you can share?

Not really, there's enough pearls of wisdom out there I think! I just feel incredibly lucky to be the mum of my boys. That love is pretty hard to describe.

What would you like this Mother’s Day?

My perfect mothers day would be a sleep in, a nice lunch out with the whole family, and maybe a Waverley Mills blanket so we can snuggle up and watch a movie together.
